NAFA WISH LIST

Do you want to help animals but don’t have space to foster or extra cash to donate?

You may have things lying around your house that NAFA rescue animals might need or the next time you are shopping you might add something to your shopping cart and then donate it to us.  Even if you don’t donate to NAFA, consider making these donations to any animal rescue in your area.

Most needed donations

  • Stuffed animals – NAFA can remove plastic parts and give them to a frightened rescued animal – or we can use them in our “Adopt a Stuffed Animal” fundraising project.
  • 35mm style film canisters or empty CLEAN pill bottles can be used to provide medication to our foster homes.
  • baby blankets, sheets, towels and large blankets made of fleece or cotton make good bedding.  A soft blanket and toy can help a frightened animal feel loved and secure
  • treats – NAFA provides treats each day to all animals in rescue
  • cat toys (feather on a wand and ball on a string type) are nice for fosters to play with and learn to be real pets
  • dog toys help puppies and dogs learn appropriate play skills and help with anxiety
  • office supplies like pens, legal pads, notebooks, binders, etc, help reduce our costs
  • cat litter / pooper scoopers
  • used collars and leashes of all types and sizes
  • Newspapers … newspapers … newspapers with the slick ads taken out are always appreciated – NAFA provides supplies for our foster homes and they use mountains of newspapers.  We also use them for interim housing at our Animal Services building and during our pet adoption events.
  • Food / Water Bowls – Metal bowls or other easily sanitized and non-chewable feeding and water bowls of various sizes

What about dog and cat food donations?

NAFA provides food to foster homes and for animals in emergency/interim housing at our Animal Services Building.  NAFA exclusively feeds Nutro or Natural Balance dog food and Iams/ProPlan cat food.  We give a free bag of food with each adoption … that way our adopted animals don’t experience a food change.

All other food donated becomes a part of our Animeals and PATS food programs – food provided to individuals caught in the economic down turn, layed off, unemployed and to the elderly through Area Agency on Aging.

Of course, NAFA always appreciates monetary donations.

NAFA has no paid employees.  All money donated goes to the direct care of abandoned, abused and neglected animals.

At any give time NAFA has 100+ animals in our care.  Each animal brought into NAFA is given a vet check, tested for heartworms, feline leukemia, appropriate shots, deworming, flea and tick removal and preventative, grooming if necessary, heartworm preventative and any other medical needs, such as antibiotics.  We estimate that the average cost of getting an animal ready for adoption is:

Dogs – $67.50

Cats – $49.75

Small Animals – $22.00

Reptiles – $12.50

Of course, you can’t have a wish list page and not mention

VOLUNTEERS
